The methods I use — and the established science underneath each one.

Most change work asks you to manage what you can't actually reach. My work is built on a different principle: behavior is downstream of state, and state is downstream of what's encoded beneath awareness. Each method below addresses the nervous system at a different layer — and each is paired with the mechanism that explains why it works.

Step Zero

Method

A two-second cognitive pattern interrupt that re-engages the prefrontal cortex before reactivity takes over — the real-time tool that makes every other tool usable.

Mechanism

Under threat, the amygdala fires and the prefrontal cortex goes offline — Siegel's "flipping the lid." You cannot access strategy from a survival state. Step Zero re-engages the prefrontal cortex first.

IVR — Identity Visualization & Rehearsal

Method

A rehearsal practice that makes a chosen future familiar before you've lived it — defining the future identity, rehearsing an ordinary day inside it, and running every meaningful decision through one filter.

Mechanism

Predictive processing. The brain forecasts from what it has already lived and treats the unfamiliar as unlikely, so it resists a future it has no reference for. Rehearsal lowers that prediction error until the future stops feeling foreign.

CONNECT

Method

A framework for creating the conditions under which connection becomes possible — in teams, families, and relationships.

Mechanism

Connection grows from mutual recognition and co-regulation; it cannot be issued from a dysregulated state. CONNECT works on the conditions, not the script.
